How can I make a model Tsunami, Cyclone, earthquake or volcano for my third grade sons project?
volcano; take about 5 lbs of sand and place it in a deep basin, form into a cone shaped volcano, create a hole in the middle and place a cup with about a cup of white vinegar, then add a couple of drops of red food coloring, during the science fair have your son add a couple of spoonfuls of baking soda, the baking soda and vinegar will fizzle over the cone shaped volcano! cyclone; take a large plastic bottle, like those we use for 2 liter soft drinks, take off the labels, add water, add salt, close it tightly, then swirl and swish the bottle around and you’ll see a mini-cyclone/tornado like swirling going inside the bottle tsunami; this won’t be feasible since it takes up a whole lot of room, but your son may create a disaster scene of what a town would look like after being hit by a tsunami, he may even use a laptop to create a power point presentation showing pictures of the Asian tsunami which hit Southeast Asia back in 2005. earthquake; you may want to help your son create a cut pi
