If you have a PowerPoint presentation with pictures in it, you can reduce the size of the file by changing the picture file type. This will make the PowerPoint file size smaller which will make accessing the file quicker, speed editing, and facilitate presentation. What you want to do is make sure that any picture files are inserted as .JPG or .GIF. To do this on a new presentation: 1. First, you DO NOT want to do a Copy/Paste. When you do a Copy/Paste, even if the file type is .JPG or .GIF, Windows changes the file type to .BMP (bitmap). Bitmap files are MUCH larger than the .JPG or .GIF. Therefore, if you find a picture on the Internet, right click on the picture and select Save Picture As. Give it a name and remember where you save it. If it does not save as a .JPG or .GIF, then do the following: 2. Open Windows Explorer, find the picture file, right-click on it, go to Open With and select Paint.
