How Can I Remove a Hair Dye Stain From Carpet?
When dying hair, the hair dye may inadvertently drip on flooring, including carpet, and cause it to stain. This will take away from the overall appearance of the carpet and make it look unattractive. Because the stain is dye, it may seem like restoring the carpet to its original color is a lost cause. However, you can often remove a hair dye stain from carpet. To remove a hair dye stain on a carpet, you will need to tackle the stain quickly by following several steps. Combine 2 cups of warm water, 1 tsp. of liquid dish washing soap and 1 tbsp. of ammonia. Stir until blended. Dip a sponge into the mixture, and blot the stain with the sponge until the stain is thoroughly wet. Let the mixture sit on the stain for 30 minutes, blotting the stain with the sponge every 5 minutes. Apply cold water to a cloth, and blot up the remaining hair dye and mixture. Place a dry cloth over top of the carpet, and gently press down to remove the water.
