How can I repair the damage rubbing alcohol has done to a veneer finish?

Rubbing alcohol was accidentally spilled onto my bookcase. It has a walnut colored veneer finish. Now it has white splotches where the rubbing alcohol touched it. I’m not sure what vintage the bookcase is, but I’m assuming that it is from the 1960s or 1970s. Please help me with this as it was given to me by a dear elderly friend who passed away several years ago.
