For crying out loud forget all the crap you are getting from all respondents right now. If the vet has done his job right, your kitten is adjusting normally. We have had 11 cats over the years, most females who have been spayed. You have absolutely nothing to worry about. She will naturally lick the stitches. She is recovering. Let her. Don’t panic! It will take at least 3 to 4 days for kitty to begin to recover. Of course she is shy. It is part of the recovery. Stay cool. If kitty doesn’t get back to “normal” after about a week, go back to the vet. In the mean time, give her a soft bed in a dark corner and let her recover on her own. Good luck! Sheesh, lot of maroons out there who have no clue to cats.
