How can I tell my counsellor that I don want any more sessions?

Hello. I had this problem myself some years ago after my Mum died.I was assigned a counsellor who I didn’t like from the word go. I asked for a change of counsellor and it was well worth the wait. I believe you have to feel comfortable with him/her which you’re clearly not doing at the moment.I think all counsellors know and accept the fact that not everyone will get along with each other and that changing isn’t being rude or horrible. Its an occupational hazard. It doesn’t mean you’re giving up.Another counsellor may well be the tonic you need to go forward with your sessions just as I did with my new one.I stayed with her for 15 sessions and she was a truly wonderfully gifted person in whom I could talk to without the awkwardness I felt with the first counsellor. Go back to the Reception and ask to see the Practice Manager (I assume you’re in the UK but may well be wrong) and see if you can get a change of counsellor without having to go back to your GP. I wish you well and hope all
