How can I tell the difference between fake Levis and genuine Levi jeans?
This is no longer a major problem in the United States with respect to new Levi’s jeans. Counterfeiting was a problem in Japan and Europe, particularly behind the Iron curtain before the fall of the Berlin Wall, when Levi’s products were unobtainable, but is no longer pertains to these markets either. However, since premium prices are now demanded for certain vintage Levi’s products, such as 501 model jeans from the 1940’s, counterfeiting may be more of a problem with respect to these products. Determining the authenticity of the vintage Levi’s products is job for an expert, and information is quite scant with regard to the general public.
