How can I tell the difference between the Holy Spirit’s conviction and Satan’s accusation?
A simple principle to remember is this, Holy Spirit always emphasizes the sin and repentance to rid you from the specific sin and its effects. Satan will always emphasize that you are a sinner! This scripture illustrates the loving but authoritative character of God’s conviction, “…but You have lovingly delivered my soul from the pit of corruption, for You have cast all my sins behind Your back.” (Isaiah 38:17b) Conviction should cease once repentance and any restitution has been made! On the other hand… The name ‘satan’ literally translated, means ‘accuser.’ That name is an open reflection of his nature. The following scripture offers more exposure of Satan’s character, “…for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.” (Revelation 12:10b) Satan will continue his attempt to accuse you of sin and failure even after you have dealt with it before God.
