Teaching a dog good door manners and self control are excellent tools to having a good dog. Your dog is seeking attention and is feeling rewarded by the attention it is getting with the current behavior. But this is leaving you embarrassed. Practice good door management that whenever the dog interacts in the vicinity of a doorway. The door does not function unless the dog’s behind is firmly planted on the floor (sitting). If they break the sit, the door closes. You then give a release word, like ‘OK’ when you give permission to break the sit. You should also use food reward and praise to help them know what behaviors are pleasing you and a firm ‘Uh, Uh’ if they break the sit or loose composure. Once they master this, you want to start int
