How can I wash/clean sheep skin/fur?

DO NOT PUT THIS IN A DRYER. sheep fur is essentially wool and wool will shrink. There are specialty carpet cleaner who specialize in cleaning expensive area rugs. I really would have to see it to know if it could go on the delicate, cold cycle of a washing machine. The prob with that is that all of the water is not wrung out because delicate cycle is so gentle. If it’s sturdy you could put it on just spin at a higher level to get more water out. Otherwise to air dry it will take forever. Use Woolite soap and NO fabric softener. If it is that important to you, I would take it to a pro. They may tell you that it can be washed in the washing machine. Are there any relatives left who may know how Grandma cleaned it?
