How can people with diabetes, healthcare professionals and/or carers get involved in diabetes research?

0

A. Diabetes UK regularly gets asked by people living with diabetes how they can take part in research projects. If one of the researchers we fund is finding it difficult to get suitable people to take part in their project we may advertise in Balance and ask anyone who is interested to contact the researcher direct. Diabetes UK is not involved in the selection of research subjects. However, this happens only very rarely. If you are interested in taking part in diabetes research projects, the best thing to do is to mention your interest to your diabetes care team. They will either know of local research you can become involved in, or may refer you on to someone else who knows. Please make sure you tell your diabetes care team of any research projects you take part in and do not alter your treatment without their agreement.
