How can someone machine wash the down feather comforter set safely?
Dry clean only. Those feathers will never be right after getting wet and all the dryer would do is dry them in lumps. To save on dry cleaning costs, put the comforter into a duvet cover that is machine washable. Then just throw the duvet into the wash and you have clean bedding.I have 4 feather down comforters and I have washed them in my home washing machine and at the laundrymat without having any trouble with them whatsoever…. One is over 10 yrs. old and looks BRAND NEW! Down when it’s wet shrinks down to nothing.. If your washing machine is big enough (super capacity) it can wash one…. However, if you are unsure take it to the laundrymat… The trick is when you put it in the dryer get some CLEAN unused tennis balls and toss them in the dryer this keeps them fluffy and moves the feathers around….. I was TWO down comforter Queen/King sized together in the double cap. washers and I was able to wash a regular QUEEN comforter as well no trouble. (Ref URL
