How can teachers combat cheating on this site?

Who cares how someone learns – it’s only important that the learning occurs. Teachers should start the class with a review of the homework, and then do a pop 5 minute quiz that is nearly identical to a few of the homework questions. The quiz doesn’t need to be graded, but then the teacher can see who is learning and is understanding and where the trouble areas are.

Unfortunately, there is no way to block people from cheating, if it isn’t this site it will simply be another, or they’ll copy each others work.

You already answered your own question. People will ALWAYS find a way to cheat if they want to so trying to combat it on Yahoo answers would be completely futile. I know you didn’t want to hear it but in the long run….they really are only cheating themselves out of an education.

well don’t you think that the students who are actually taking a lot of time out to type up the questions on yahoo answer or whatever are the ones who do care.. or at least care a little… most of the students who just don’t give a flying poop about hw would just either not do it, copy from someone else at school, or find some other really simple alternative. so don’t you think that maybe the reason so many students do it is because a lot of the teachers aren’t giving us the proper education, or learning environment… and if you think it, cheating is actually very smart, if your able to cheat the system, and cheat everyone around you and still succeed, than you my friend, must be a very smart person. something to think about…..

No one is obligated to answer them with a whole correct answer. Some people don’t answer at all. But you gotta admit, it would be hard for them to understand what you mean if you don’t tell them the whole thing. Online homework is hard to explain. I don’t think they should even be asking for help here. If they have friends, they should do it together. That would just be better. I don’t think it’s funny to see them post stupid questions because if they were really interested in homework, they’d be more serious about asking for help. Honestly, I know some kids who have been getting off easy because their teachers don’t wanna see them next year. Not all teachers are great you know. Pop quizzes are not funny. I do however believe they should have more of them, but I don’t think they have enough. I think school is too easy these days. the friendship and love dramas are the hardest part of school now. At least this is what I see with the kids I know. I think, there should be a 2-3 hour sessi
