The city needs to have up to date codes and enforce those codes both on existing dwellings as well as new construction. As far as crimes, again it goes to having a visible and well staffed police force. We need to try and prevent the criminal before they get to someone’s door/window. • With the city facing budget cuts, what are the areas where the city can make those cuts? Well, first, to really respond adequately, I would need to see the entire budget and how everything fits together. I would want to meet with department managers in the city and directors of the various organizations the city funds. Then, after careful study, I would feel better prepared to give an opinion or make a decision on what cuts are needed or should be made. One area that does stand out to me immediately is city staff raises and bonuses.
