How can very small products such as lipsticks and pencil sharpeners be barcoded?
Where an article is very small, the manufacturer may apply for an 8-digit short code with which to number the items. Short codes which are directly assigned by the GS1 Hong Kong, take up, in symbol form, about half the area of the 13-digit GTIN symbol, and are therefore well suited for marking small items.
