I went in at 17 and if his parents signed like mine did, that is not a way out. The contract is good. I expect in a couple of more weeks he will be fine, when you are that young adjusting to being on your own and away from home is hard. If he is having health problems, that could lead to a medical (honorable discharge) and sometimes when recruits can’t adjust they even get discharges based upon psychological evaluation. This is usually honorable as well, but sometimes general. Make sure he doesn’t fail to report for duty or go AWOL, (to the extent that you can infulence him) because that is the path to a dishonorable, as is possibly refusing to train. Tell him not to refuse any order. If he hurts and can’t train due to the injuries he can go to sickbay. He can report to sickbay about the arm and knees and they may get the ball rolling if these injuries prevent him from performing the physical actvities.
