How Complete Is JDK 1.1 Support?
The Microsoft Java SDK 2.0 includes support for much of the JDK 1.1 classes; however, there are some holes in its support. I suppose there are at least a couple of reasons for these gaps: • The Microsoft Java SDK 2.0 was completed while the JDK 1.1 was still in development. • The rivalry between Microsoft, JavaSoft and Sun is certainly no secret. Undoubtedly, this rivalry plays a part in the JDK 1.1 support holes. Nonetheless, as developers we still have to create applications and figure out how and when to make use of the latest development tools.
