So they begun to conspire against the government. Eventually, these people after overthrew the Kingdom of Hawaii. During the overthrow, they had a US battleship and soldiers/marines around the island and used to “protect” them. After the overthrow, the Republic of Hawaii was made with one of the conspirators as the their president. Queen Lili’uokalani asked President McKinely to reinstate the Kingdom of Hawaii, but instead he annexed the Republic of Hawaii and made it into a US territory.
