And they are simple to eat! They are true finger food. You merely pull the trimmed leaves off, one by one, starting from the base of the artichoke. If fully cooked, the leaves pull right off with barely a tug from the stem. Put the end of the leaf which is the part which was attached to the stem in your mouth, and run it through your teeth to pull off the “meat” from the leaf. It’s delicious to dip each one in melted butter + lemon juice, which is my preference, or other sauces. You will get down to the “choke”, which looks hairy–just take a spoon and scrape those “hairs” off, and eat the “heart” below it.
