How did Atlanta gets its name?

Atlanta, Georgia started off as a railroad depot that was originally called Terminus. It was eventually changed to Marthasville, after the daughter of the former Govenor and railroad advocate, Wilson Lumpkin. His daughter was named Martha Atalanta Lumpkin.
