How did Beethoven influence Schubert in symphony writing?
I can’t really tell how Beethoven influenced Schubert in symphonic writing, except the most general things, like the movements’ longer lengths, etc. I remember reading a very interesting article about how to commemorate Beethoven’s death, Schubert took some of the themes from the Eroica Symphony and put it in his Piano Trio No. 2. Tragically, Schubert died only a year after he finished writing this piece. He requested to be buried next to Beethoven.
