How did Christianity effect the fall of the Roman Empire?

0

I’m not sure that Christianity, per se, had a significant impact on the fall of the Roman Empire. As you note, Christianity became the official religion of the Empire when Constantine was emperor, and in fact after that time Christianity may have been more of a factor in keeping the empire together than one that led to its fall. As the two halves of the empire drifted apart, they had little in common other than the Christian religion. The fall of Rome had more to do with economic factors, and the incursion of “barbaric” tribes into what formerly was Roman territory, especially in the West. Rome was unable to sustain the military presence necessary to defend the outer boundaries of the Empire, and bankrupted herself trying to do so.
