How did Debra Winger get John Travoltas attention in Urban Cowboy?
Most sites seem to suggest it was the other way around. John Travolta plays Bud Davis, a young Texan who has moved in with his Uncle and Aunt in Houston in search of opportunity. Getting a job at an oil refinery, (one of only two blue collar jobs available in Texas) he spends his nights at Gilley’s, allegedly Houston’s hottest nightclub. Soon there is mutual attraction between Bud and Sissy (Debra Winger). This attraction is caused by Bud’s skill on the mechanical bull. They quickly marry and move into a trailer park.
