How did Fall Out Boy come together?
I was looking to start a band outside of the heavy music scene and I talked to Pete [Wentz, the band’s bassist] about it and he was into the idea. Eventually, I met Patrick [Stump, lead vocals] on a whim. He overheard a conversation I was having and he chimed in and it just kind of snowballed from there. We just started practicing together and I kept making everybody come to practice even though we weren’t very good. We got better. Eventually we got Andy [Hurley, drummer] into the band after trying out some people. It worked to our advantage. What were some of the initial difficulties when starting the band? Starting a band, I think, it’s a very healthy outlook. It’s a good thing to do and if you can find people that you like playing music with, then that’s all that’s important. I think the hardest part is finding good people that you like playing music with. I don’t think you worry about anything past that. Take everything in baby steps.
