How did Kimberly begin her career in dog training?
Kimberly grew up in a family with a long history of dog breeding and training. Her Grandparents bred Champion Dobermans and her Grandfather trained dogs that were used by the United States military during World War II. Additionally, Kimberly’s father competed nationally in dog obedience with miniature poodles. Upon a visit to Las Vegas in 1994, Kimberly was introduced to the sport of dog agility through a demonstration at the Excalibur’s Magical Mutt Show. She enthusiastically returned to her home in Scottsdale Arizona, joined a local training club and began her agility career with her mixed-breed rescue dog named Rusty. In 1995 Kimberly acquired her first Papillon, Jasper. Her debut visit to national finals was with Jasper at the 2000 USDAA Grand Prix World Championships in Del Mar, where he placed fifth amidst a highly competitive field of 96 12″ dogs. Jasper returned to the USDAA Grand Prix World Championship finals in 2003 and 2004 after two consecutive Regional Championship wins.
