How did Lord Ganesha lose his tusk?
There seem to be multiple stories about it. The earliest Sanskrit name for Ganesha is Ekadanta or one tusk. Some of the earliest icons show him handling his broken tusk. According to Religion Facts, there are a couple of interesting stories behind it. “When Parashurama one of Shiva’s favorite disciples, came to visit him, he found Ganesha guarding Shiva’s inner apartments.
