HOW DID LUCILLE BALLS ACTING CAREER START?
When Lucille broke into Hollywood, she took many rolls. She was cast in parts from seductive to the ultra Feminine heroine. It was the Depression time when people were desperate to forget their suffering and movies were a way of life. However, Lucille never made it very far. She felt that she had too hard of a look – like that of a cigarette girl. Her title of “Queen of the “b” movies was about as well known as she got. She eventually did do some good comedies, but at that time, women were not permitted to do comedy. The only female comedians were either extremely homely, or men dressed as women. Becoming known as a female comedian was a sure death of a career. FROM SILVER SCREEN TO RADIO As Lucille got older, she went to radio, which was the place where a lot of older actors and actresses went to keep a career.
