How did Methuselah live to be 969 years old?
Friartuck may be right. In any case, we’d need more evidence to answer the question conclusively. Research is being done today related to what causes aging. Some people age rapidly, look old even in high school, and die by 20-25 or younger. As far as we know, no one has lived past 122. There are numerous theories on why we age, and depending on the theory, numerous possible hypotheses on what might significantly slow aging. Turtle organs do not deteriorate over time like organs in virtually all other animals. Aging does take older generations out of the picture thus limiting population growth, but maybe there was a mutation that left certain people out, just as some animals are somewhat left out.
