How did nationalism and imperialism lead to tension and conflict in europe?
There was tension and conflict in Europe for centuries,all caused by nationalism and imperialism. It started with the Roman Empire,and went up to the twentieth century with the Second World War and then the Cold War. Without going into a specific time period,generally speaking when stronger nations conquered weaker ones,it caused hostility from the conquered as well as neighboring countries,which would make treaties and form alliances for self-protection. The situation would escalate with the conquerors making alliances of their own and war would break out. The Second World War was a good example of this.
