How did nationalism cause world war 2?
Nationalism has three definitions: 1. Devotion to the interests or culture of one’s nation. 2. The belief that nations will benefit from acting independently rather than collectively, emphasizing national rather than international goals. 3.Aspirations for national independence in a country under foreign domination. The agressors that started world war 2, were the fascists of Germany and Italy, they were 2 different nations with 2 different cultures, and different interests in the world war, but they collaborated together, so this was internationalism, which is the antithesis of the 2nd definition of Nationalism. Both countries were already independent nations, which would be the antithesis of the 3rd definition of Nationalism.
