How did Nato and the Warsaw pact help Russia keep control of Eastern Europe after World War Two?
Polarisation of east and west parts of Europe according to which pact or allicance they were in – dividing the contintent by the so-caled Iron Curtain in the aftermath of the Second World War. The US was the biggest player inn NATO, ditto USSR in the Warsaw Pact. It was all about Spheres of Influence and the not unnatural desire to protect its wetsrn border by any further incursion from European adventurers. NATO had the atomic bomb as used to destroy two cities of the Empire of Japan, the WP countries were somewhat nervous. This changed slightly when the Rosenbergs betrayed the secrets of the bomb to Russia in the 50’s.
