How did Obama afford to go to Harvard and backpack through Europe when he and his mother were supposedly poor?

Do you know cheap it was to backpack through Europe and even around the world at that time? His mother was never rich, but his grandparents both had decent middle-class jobs and probably gave him a graduation present, just like many do. There ARE scholarships to Harvard Law School, you know. I know several people who have gotten them. AND, just like the rest of us, he probably took out student loans. And summer interns from Harvard Law get very good stipends. Problem solved. ... more
