How did Rosa Parks die?
Rosa Parks died of natural causes on October 24, 2005. She had been suffering with dementia before her death. In her honor all of the city buses in Montgomery and Detroit reserved their front seats with black ribbons. Her body was flown all over the country for people to pay their respects to her. On October 29, 2005 her body was flown to Montgomery and taken to St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church. Then her body was transported to Washington, D.C. There she was transported to the U.S. Capitol Rotunda by a bus which was similar to the one where she made her famous stand. Then there was a memorial service for her at St. Paul AME in Washington, D.C. Then she was taken back to Detroit to the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History. Then a funeral service was held for Rosa at the Greater Grace Temple Church in Detroit, Michigan. This service ended up lasting for over seven hours. Then the casket was taken by horse drawn hearse to the cemetery. Thousands of people in all of these areas paid respects to her.
