How did slavery develop in the United States?
Slavery was first introduced into the United States by the American colonist in the 1600’s by merchant ships who had brought them over from Africa. These slaves were captured in Africa by explorers and merchants, then they were taken to different parts of the world, including the American Colonies to be sold. It was developed to be a cheap and convenient labor in the United States for the South.
