How did the comprehensive plan come about?
In the fall of 2006, the Harrietstown Town Board and the Trustees of the Village of Saranac Lake appointed the Comprehensive Planning Committee to develop a new comprehensive plan. The committee was designed to include representatives from both town and village municipal boards and their respective planning boards, and community volunteers. The committee has worked over the past few years most members on a volunteer basis to assimilate significant public and board input, current and older planning initiatives, and concepts from land use planning into one document.
