How did the Japanese react to the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki?
The Japanese where stunned and shocked by the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The extent of the damage and the manner in which it was inflicted (one plane, one bomb and one horrendous blast), left them reeling to comprehend the possibilities and looking for a defense against similar attacks. It took the second attack to make the (same) point, and the Japanese then surrendered.
