Let’s get the terms straight, because “the rest of the world” were not really fighting Nazi Germany. Many remained neutral, and many also declared war but never did contribute substantial military and economic resources to defeat Nazi Germany. The Nazis were mainly up against the USA, the UK, the Soviet Union, and for the most part, the overseas and exiled resources of France (during the latter stages of the war). The Allies won principally because their resources were overwhelmingly superior to the Axis in virtually every area of aircraft, shipping, crude oil production, steel production, tanks, oil, ordnance and ammunition, and manpower. So those are mostly what one gets…and the standard answer one will mostly get….when reading a general history of WW2.
