How did the York County Tea Party Movement start?
Our founders, Judy Thomas and Joan Clark, located each other through Letters to the Editor in the York News Times newspaper. Judy and Joan saw their country’s values and the laws of the constitution being jeopardized, so they got off their couches and decided to do something about it. Just a couple of weeks later, they gathered a committed group of volunteers and held a Tax Day rally on the lawn of the York County Courthouse square where approximately 400 people peacefully assembled to redress our local, state and national government for a variety of grievances and concerns. Now, our growing organization has dozens of volunteers and is working hard each day to promote Tea Party (American) principles.
