How did Timeless Timber get underwater?
Prior to railroads, waterways were the primary means of transportation to the sawmills. During transport and while being held in rafts at the mills, a percentage of logs became waterlogged and sank. During this time it was much easier to cut another log than try to recover the “sinkers”. Most of the logs that sank were hardwoods due to the fact that they were very heavy to begin with and when the bark absorbed water they would sink.
