I love Aretha Franklin, but I was disappointed by her rendition of My Country ‘Tis of Thee. She has this great, powerful voice, but she sang the song in a high-pitched tone of voice. I thought she’d make it rock, but she overdramatized it, just like so many others do. I was okay with the hat’s style, kind of what I’d expect from her. The thing I hated was that it was gray. Boring, dreary gray – not what I would have expected. I saw the inauguration ceremony from the time people entered to the end of Obama’s speech. Overall, it was good. The preacher guy’s speech kind of smacked. He didn’t say objectionable things, he just wasn’t very good. I don’t really think religion should be part of a government ceremony to begin with. The Oath of Office was messed up. It wasn’t the worst thing in the world, though. I really, really liked many of the things Obama said in his speech. It wasn’t perfect, had some grammar flaws and a few phrases that made me laugh (the “so it was, so it will be” one so
