How do adults get godparents if they want to convert to the catholic faith and be baptized catholic?

Usually just referred to as RCIA, this program is intended to offer the adult convert the same religious training that children would receive from their families and Confirmation classes. As part of this RCIA program each candidate will have a sponsor rather than a Godparent and any Catholic in full communion with Rome can be your sponsor. You are generally allowed to choose your sponsor and all that you have to do is ask the person if they will be your sponsor. If they agree then they or you or preferably both of you need to talk to the Priest and RCIA coordinator in your Parish. If you have a friend in your Parish that you have known for a long time then they would make an excellent sponsor because you will feel more at ease with them and will be apt to ask questions of them that you might be embarrassed to ask the RCIA instructor or the Priest. If I can be of any help at all please don’t hesitate to ask.
