Even if a chinchilla seems to be getting along with another pet, it should never be housed with anything other than another chinchilla. The main reason being diet. Chinchillas need to be fed a chinchilla-specific pellet and the other animal should be fed a food specific to that animal. A chinchilla would gladly gobble up the other animal’s food, but health-wise, this would not be good for the chin. If you want a buddy for your chin and you plan on keeping them housed together, then you should get another chinchilla (just make sure you have an extra large cage – they need their space!). As for chins and other animals – I’ve heard of chinchillas and dogs getting along (however, I would never trust my dog with my chins, she’s a bit of a nut), but use some common sense (hunting breeds would most likely want to chase and possibly kill your chin).
