How do christian funeral services reflect beliefs about life after death?
Most have no clue what they are talking about. Did you see the Ronald Reagan funeral on TV about 5 years ago? It was a joke. The guy speaking spoke to the casket like Ronald Reagan was in it. Then by his (the guy speaking doing the service) magical powers he commended him to God and sent him to heaven. Most people have no clue about life after death. Dead people have not gone to heaven yet: People misuse 2 Cor. 5:6-8 when they try to say it means we go straight to be with the Lord after death. It doesn’t exactly say that. It’s just a comparision between the 2 states of a life conscious and alive on earth and then one that is present with the Lord. But that doesn’t mean there is not another state in between. They SLEEP… For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen. And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; and you are still in your sins!
