How do ciliated epithelial cells function?

0

There are at least three types of ciliated epithelium: (1) Simple ciliated epithelium, (2) Columnar ciliated epithelium, and (3) Ciliated pseudostratified columnar epithelium. Examples of ciliated epithelia include: Ciliated columnar epithelia move mucus and other substances via cilia, and are found in the upper respiratory tract, the Fallopian tubes, the uterus, and the central part of the spinal cord. Ciliated columnar epithelium also lines the lumen of the uterine tube, where currents generated by the cilia propel the egg cell toward the uterus.
