How do convection currents in the earth affect the earths surface?
Convection currents form in themantle and are driven by differences in density, temperature, and composition. These currents move continents around. Where the currents move upwards, continents move apart. Where the currents move downwards, continents come together. As continents seperate and collide, new mountain ranges and oceans are formed. As ranges erode, they form plains in river valleys. Rivers change direction depending on where the land is lowest. Rain, snow and weather patterns are impacted as topography and oceans change.Ocean changes affect migration, food, and ocean conditions (el nino didn’t exist 6 million years ago) In short, there are many ways to answer this question as long as they do with changes that can happen on the surface. Whatever goes on in the mantle affects the surface.
