How do French women feel about sex for love vs. sex for lust?
Ollivier: I’d say that French women feel that you don’t need to categorize one or the other, particularly since love and lust are often intertwined. I think French women feel that each have value, in their own way. AOL Health: In your book, you quote one famous Frenchwoman, Catherine Deneuve, as referring to marriage as obsolete. Do French women believe in marriage? Ollivier: Over 50 percent of French woman choose not to marry, but to cohabitate instead. They go into marriage more slowly. They are a lot more critical of the institution of marriage. They don’t invest the same time and money in a wedding — which is not to say that people don’t get married in large weddings with huge parties. But here it is like a business.
