How do furry animals manufacture vitamin D?
In furry animals, vitamin D is produced within the fur and is absorbed during grooming. Alternatively, they can get vitamin D from their food. Fish are a rich source of vitamin D, which they get from algae, which in turn gets it from the sun. So if your furry animal catches and eats a fish, it gets a nice doze of vitamin D. Eggs are good too. Most furry animals, though, are not completely shielded from UV light, so they do manage to synthesise enough of it.
