How do historical events works within the fictional narratives of African American authors?
In their works, African American authors use historical events as a guideline for their works, in which they creatively assemble narratives which provide accurate portrayals of individuals of various times throughout history. Though the works of the authors that we have studied this semester are classified as fictional, the historical soundness that these authors portray in their works, is all the more reason to not just praise their work, but to also uphold it as a credible source of opinions expressed by African Americans. Because these authors set their narratives up within a historically accurate and realistic context, it in turn gives the reader no reason to dispute the implications of their texts. As a result of this, the reader is able to gain information from the dialogues of the characters in which lead to a better understanding of the times.
