How do I add a metadata link to a data layer served from an ESRI ArcIMS map server?

ArcIMS supports OpenGIS Web Map Server(WMS) 1.0 protocol and so WebMap Composer is fully interoperable and can be used to cost-effectively and flexibly build Web applications to add value to this product. A WMS provides an XML “capabilities document” with all the information needed to connect to and create a user-friendly interface for the data available from the server. We show here how to add a metadata link to an ArcIMS capabilities document so WebMap Composer and other WMS clients can use this information. If you do not own the ArcIMS service, ask your map service provider to meet these standards. User readable metadata is referenced using the DataURL tag. The capabilities document can generally be located at %ARC_HOME%/ArcIMS/capabilities/MapService.xml Topography Base map This layer has various interesting features and articles written about it <
