How do I apply for disability living allowance?
It can prove difficult. One word of advice is stick at it, they will try and fob you off. You need to make the need for help sound worse than you perhaps are – worst case scenario. Be careful to photo copy, or file every single piece of paper – including your application form. Also be careful who you put down as “witnesses”. I had been receiving DLA for a long time, but when they suddenly stopped it after a review they told me it was because of a letter a physiotherapist sent in – and she was not treating me for my main disability. Another doctor and physio eventually said that there were more problems than we originally thought, a podiatrist also found more problems – but solely because of that first physio my benefits were halved. I am still waiting for an appeal, since July! Be persistent, you might be lucky.
